Evaluation

I’m very proud of what I have accomplished and learned throughout my project. It has been an interesting experience for me. Now I have a lot of knowledge about trainers, the artist research topic I had written about is the most important I believe because it conveys how trainers were thought of and what they have become today, where iconic brands firstly originated from. Even before I presented what actually produces trainers, being the first sowing machine invented by Jan Ernst Matzeliger. He is a genius for creating this magnificent machine as he made it incredibly easier to create shoes. Look back at his invention and how it evolves is amazing designed into electronic sewing machines.

What I’ve also learned is how to use Photoshop and After Effects more efficiently. The first part of getting advice from my primary research really helped me to decide what trainers I would edit, and the tools to choose, I am glad I chose complex tools because I learnt a lot more pushing my self for a challenge and it paid off, as a result, the images the spectacular. By editing several images on this and experimenting with different tools. Like I had to cut out every trainer from the background using the Magnetic tool. It was difficult because I had to be steady going around the silhouette of the shoe, but every time I did this it gets easier. New tools that I know how to use efficiently is the liquify tool, this is to create a smudged effect. How to import files. How to add a solid colour to create a background of any colour.

However, what was challenging is at the beginning of using it I couldn’t move the images and size it the way I preferred. How I fixed this I looked on the Adobe Photoshop website tutorial to get the help I needed and it helped me significantly. This is the tools I had to use on every image too. Also, I haven’t overcome the difficulty of blending the colours of two images together such as the Jordan 11 trainers where the splash and the blue sole was tough to blend. Even if I searched tutorials I did not find any that suited my needs to support this problem.

I didn’t use Illustrator in the end because I had all the tools I needed in the two software I used. I didn’t go to a museum that had trainers because I couldn’t find any in London.

What was easy is how I screenshot each tool I moved on to because through the 2 years I’ve been doing Creative Media I’ve learned to add every important information on a practical task to show how I created a piece of work.

After effects, I have learned to export a Photoshop image onto this software, after editing on Photoshop. In addition, to use the tools I’ve achieved to add keyframes properly creating outstanding movement effect video on my trainers without no guidance now. The first after effect I created being the Orange Air Max 95 trainer, the video is stiff as the effects don’t suit each other, and the keyframes are not in the right place to make it a smooth movement. Being that it was my first experiment on the software. Therefore the produce didn’t meet my expectations as I was hoping for as i was expecting the video to be the same colour as the trainer that I screenshot. Unfortunately, when I downloaded the video, it appeared to be dimmer that the usual colour. So now I before rendering the video to download it, I check all the files are correct.

My favorite effect from After Effect is the glow effect on the Air Max 270 because the way its white at the start just showing the silhouette makes it more intriguing and mysterious of what trainer its.As the whiteness fades away presenting the colour, the brand of the trainer. In the face that is my favorite video, I’ve edited in After Effects because it has a girly sassy vibe to it of the pink and violet colour coordination. The way the trainer stands from the background, but still, the colours are light and pretty.

I am satisfied with my final project being my very own first commercial because I found it an easy process using the camera as I know how to use a digital camera. I planned to take photographs and videos of people posing in their trainers, in the college on the plain grey floor as they weren’t a lot of people due to the specific time I started the shoot being 9:45 AM. Also, it’s simply being a plain background therefore, the trainers stood out. All the students I approached agreed to pose in their trainers, for my project, when I asked them. It was easy because I am confident about going up to people who I don’t know with nice trainers. Also, I had to show them how to move and walk so it was easy. Using Premiere Pro only to edit the videos was quite long, firstly it was hard to add an effect on the title, where this was new to me, but I got help with a teacher. I decided to create a flashy effect by the title going flashing on and of as this reflects the flashy trainers that I presented throughout my project. However, the outcome of the title is a disappointment for as  I downloaded the video, the title only flashes on the (EIOUS) letters only. A tiresome task is I had to cut out a lot of parts which took many hours, just to make it look professional. I added the After Effects video of trainer’s in because it adds more entertainment to my commercial seeing a transition of videos makes it very interesting. I added slogans to the video to convey the meaning and to put out a message in my commercial as all these messages imply how powerful trainers are. Also, the slogans relate to the trainer such as ‘THE MOST ICONIC TRAINERS OF ALL TIME’ then presented the Air Forces, another example is ‘TRAINERS THAT ARE LIGHTER THAN AIR’  then appears Nike Air VapourMax this represents the sole of the trainer that looks light a lightweight trainer. My favorite slogan I made up is ‘I’m a believer that getting fresh starts with your feet first’ because the majority of people enhance how fresh and new they feel. The music suited the video because it was an instrumental therefore it wouldn’t overpower my commercial. However, when I downloaded the video the quality decreased so the beauty wasn’t coming out. I don’t know why this happened as on Premiere Pro the quality was perfect where the brand and the detail of the trainers could be seen, so this a frustrating situation and was surprisingly unexpected to see that. Also, I checked that I muted all the voices but unfortunately I still heard voices in the video clips, so what I will do next time is before I add any music, I’ll replay the video to double check that there is no sound coming from any clip.

Over I’m proud of my self for creating my first commercial, especially because I created all independently created all of the ideas on my project, where this shows how diligent I have been on my project. I will be producing more videos in the future and editing too as this is where my talent is in the Media industry.
