This is also where I got my inspiration from this YouTube tutorial to give me a little guidance on how to merge on picture on another picture so I decided to take ideas from this Photo to enhance my poster. But what I found it difficult was I didn’t have any customise brushes on my file like the video to create that patchy image of the face peeling off. The liquefy technique was new to me and I liked the effect of the face fading into the black background.

I already had an inspiration for the possessed eye look to give that abnormal sinister image. However I wanted to give the eyes a blue hue.

Technical Research

To make this poster I used a software called Photoshop I have experience a few times but its still quite technical for me as there are a load of techniques but I’m getting used to it. Firstly I opened a new project, then uploaded a picture of my head, then of a skeleton face from Google. After I merged the photos together, so that the skeleton is a layer on top of my face. Then used the “Opacity” option and I could use this do fade my image. I really enjoyed playing with this tool as it fits in with the horror poster characteristics.
From all the other posters from a Horror genre I had seen before it seems like this tool as well it would surly come in hand when working on my poster. So now only eyes are showing and the contrast is black and grey.
The fact that this type of effect has been used on an official poster it suggest that it grabs attention and looks professional. I should consider using this tool when making future posters posters.

Production diary

Poster: I tried to go on Photoshop in the library, however the computers are way to slow, also some of the tools I clicked on occurred a problem such as adding another layer, probably because it’s not a Mac. Therefore I tried it on the Mac and it worked perfectly fine.

I wanted to create a similar effect to the tutorial I was watching as I couldn’t where on Photoshop there’s a ‘load brushes’ where that can get extra brushes on ‘files’ but the Mac didn’t have that for some reason, therefore I had to improvise and get a smaller brush to create the effect I was going for.
