Reflective log

Week 1: The first task I completed for my project, I wrote out my Proposal & Bibliography explains what I have learned through the course, and what techniques are useful to use in my final project. I completed all of this in a day because I am confident in the skills I have developed which I am certain ill be using in my final project, thinking about it for a while now.

I written 11 theme ideas to decide on a project to create, I had thoughts on amazing ideas but I was very certain that I was going to do it about trainers.

Week 2: Then I created  Mind map brainstorm using Photoshop firstly planning out all the keywords and important features relating to my project then typed them out in different colours. This is to give an insight on what my project is about.

Week 3: Then I created a questionnaire survey early at the time because before I started editing the shoes on Photoshop and? After Effects, I wanted to get other peoples to view on it to see which effects are better for me to use since I’m an amateur.

Week 4: Then I started to research the invention of trainers, looking at the importance of why trainers are valuable and the inventions of brands that are now icon and very popular today.

Week 5: Meanwhile, I’m still researching artists of trainers brands.

I went to JD which is a sports shop and took photographs of different trainers for several choices for when I edit the trainers on Photoshop and After Effects. This was an easy process because of the early times I went, the shop not being crowded as usual meaning it was an easier position to take photographs. Then I started editing on Photoshop. Mostly editing the Air Force image, what I found difficult was to the brush tool part to paint the colour white so it ends up black on the colour fill as it was confusing and had to start again multiples of time because I realised I didn’t duplicate another layer of the trainers before I did the liquify technique. I also found it difficult to add the background to the trainer as the image was small every time I tried to expand it or zoom out. The trainer would overpower the image as this was too small for this background image. To solve the problem I dragged the background layer under the trainer layers like I did with the others, as a result, it worked.

On the Jordan 11 trainers, I found it difficult to blend the blue sole and the blue water splash together. But I’m pleased that  I made the effort figuring out how to match the colors of them both together so it doesn’t look too obvious and looks decent.

I like how there are many bold colours on every part of the image giving it that vibrant flashy look.

Week 6: Using After Effects for the first time, I just played around for a while with the effects to get used to it. Then I started with my first image which was the Air max 95. Completing my first after affects clip was very difficult because I’m not used to the tools in the After Effects. the things I got stuck on was the part where you had to add effects on the object to make it move.

What I learned is:

  •  to add another Screen Shot 2019-05-07 at 11.42.27 Diamond on the same effect so it changes on the time laps Screen Shot 2019-05-07 at 11.44.26place the current time indicator to where you want, then press the diamond so it converts to blue to add another effect on the sane one.

I  did this at the beginning and the end on the Scatterize effect where the trainer is formed into tiny pixels, were at the end giving it clarity to show the actual trainer.

  • I added the effect, clicked on the time vary stopwatch Screen Shot 2019-05-07 at 11.50.29 to record the effect on the time laps.
  • I can improve on my next after effect clip to extend it longer showing more variety of effects on my next trainer.

What went well:

  •  I liked how the background is black and the shoe is a bright vibrant colour as this makes the trainer stand out

Improve on in the future:

The brightness is quite low for the footage of the clip; as you can see it goes to the normal brightness at the end, I don’t know why that’s is or perhaps I pressed a tool and made it that way. So this wont happen in my final production every tool effect I add ill observe if it changes the brightness of it.

The way the effect transition just paused at 0.04-0.06 seconds is very long for a pause in between the clip. For this reason, ill improve on adding the effects on the right specific timeline so it plays smoothly.

EBI: To improve it ill add more keyframe edits

Editing my second image on After Effects was the Air Max 270

WWW: I like the contrast between the dark violet background and the light pink shoe, this shows the trainer in depth of detail.

WWW: I like how it has the right amount of effects and every one of them fits in.

WWW: It has a feminine atmosphere due to the pure violet background and the pinkness of the shoe.

The neon colour Air Max 95 is my favorite because of the lime green and other colours of bright purple and blue contrasting the black is very intriguing to me.

Week 7: Continuing with After Effect, the neon colour Air Max 95 is my favourite because of the lime green and other colours of bright purple and blue contrasting the black is very intriguing to me.

Week 8: I then went back to my artist research to use the advice what a teacher has given me to compare the artist in some way, which will give me more marks.

Week 9: I focused more on creating more videos on After effect

Week 10: Finishing practical pieces off in my project, meanwhile thinking about how I’m going to put my video commercial together.

Week 11: I started planning out the settings and the equipment leading up to my video commercial. Certain that my pre-production is sorted then I started taking photos and videos of peoples trainers.

Week 12: When I was satisfied in the amount of footage I have taken then I started to edit on Premiere Pro. Which took a week.

Week 13: For the final parts I proofed checked my grammar and spelling, make sure that it can be read clearly. Also, I wrote my evaluation last to give an overall view of how I felt during the time creating my project, what I learned, how I’ll improve.
