Unit 2 Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production

Different types of research and how they are used:

Primary research is to collect data directly out to answer specific issues or questions. Methods include observation, interviews, questionnaires, online surveys, focus groups or panels, surveys.

Secondary Research involves using already existing data. Its available by public libraries, websites, data obtained from already filled in surveys google.

Quantitative Research a way of collecting and analysing data used from different sources. It often involves words or language, but may also use pictures or photographs and observations. Methods include Interviews, Focus groups and Observations.

Qualitative Research  It is used to gain an understanding of knowledge underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. Market Research. use of this method of inquiry for the study of human phenomena including biography, case study, historical analysis, discourse analysis, ethnography, grounded theory.

Production Research is used multiple systems of inquiry for the study of human characteristic including biography, case study, historical analysis, discourse analysis, and ethnography.

Design research is based on a customer-focused approach that helps answer questions, how customers will use and experience it also to improve the design. The method what is likely to be used are Primary, Secondary and Evaluation research.

Questions about museums and why people visit them.

  • What do you like about Museums?

People say the benefits of going to the museum is it’s free, most lean something new about history, especially if the content of the exhibition is intriguing, such as physical activities.

  • Do you go to Museums often?

People in my generation don’t go to Museums in their spear time but said to go on an education trip.

  • What’s the most interesting thing you saw in a Museum?

The design of the building of the architect, an army tank, a Dinosaur Skeleton,  a Victorian painting that moves looks like it’s staring at me as I move.

  • How would you describe a Museum in your own perspective?

Enormous, huge, clean, ancient, modern.

  • Do you prefer history or nature or art museums, science Museums?

Most people prefer science Museums because there are a lot more physical aspects that people can interact with. There fun because it shows how our body works; what our muscles look like and how they work.

  • If there was a museum about your life, what would you put in it?

People would mostly put about there past positive life so fans would have happy memories about them.

The feeling of doing a presentation in front of my peers was alright, as I felt confident as I knew and rehearsed what I was going to say. In addition, this will help me on in the future.

You will watch the films on the British Museum website and write a short description of them.
Using secondary research (essay on unit 1 brief) you must write a short essay on the history of film technology. All references must be shown on a Bibliography.
You must also demonstrate the use of secondary research in future projects.
